This fine set of eight Hepplewhite style dining chairs, crafted in rich mahogany, comprises two elegantly proportioned armchairs and six side chairs. Each chair features the iconic shield-shaped back, centered by a pierced splat expertly carved with a traditional wheat sheaf motif. The chairs are supported by sturdy square tapering legs joined by an H-stretcher for structural stability. A standout feature of this set is the collection of hand-stitched botanical needlepoint seats, each depicting a different floral specimen—including lilies, columbine, and goldenrod—rendered in fine wool. Two chairs features a contrasting cream seat, while the others maintain a consistent beige ground. This set represents a high-quality mid-20th-century revival of the Federal period, combining classical Neoclassical lines with bespoke textile artistry.
