Baker Furniture Four-Drawer Maple Chest, Early 20th Century

Item Details

This early 20th century maple chest was manufactured by the esteemed Baker Furniture Factories in Allegan, Michigan. Featuring the company’s early octagonal shop mark, the chest is constructed with genuine maple veneers and graduated drawers. The piece retains its original delivery label for the E.W. Edwards & Son department store in Buffalo, New York, a notable retailer that operated until 1952. Design elements include traditional brass batwing hardware, a distinctive scalloped lower apron, and original turned feet on casters. The interior showcases Baker’s high-quality machine dovetail joinery, characteristic of their early 1930s production standards.
