Early American Chippendale Style Side Chair with Ladder-Back Rocking Chair

Item Details

This lot includes two distinct examples of early American seating. The first is an 18th-century Chippendale style side chair featuring a carved serpentine crest rail with flared ears and a classic pierced splat over a woven rush seat. The second is a 19th-century ladder-back rocking chair with a three-slat back, turned posts topped with acorn finials, and shaped armrests, currently featuring a red and white checkered fabric seat. These pieces exemplify the transition from formal English influences to functional American vernacular furniture design.
