American Country Sheraton Cherry Drop-Leaf Work Table, 19th Century

Item Details

This 19th-century American Country Sheraton work table is an authentic example of rural Federal-era craftsmanship. Constructed from solid cherry, the table features a rectangular center section flanked by two drop leaves, providing a versatile expanding surface above a single utility drawer. The piece is elevated on characteristic Sheraton legs, defined by decorative ring-and-vase turnings at the stiles and a delicate, continuous taper. The drawer exhibits honest vernacular construction with pinned joinery. While the top retains a heavily patinated surface with visible water marks and finish loss consistent with long-term domestic use, the table remains structurally sound and represents a classic silhouette of the early 19th-century American home.
