Item Details

This grand Continental Neoclassical style center table features a polished circular mahogany top resting upon an architectural giltwood base. The deep, convex apron is heavily ornamented with a repeating frieze of hand-finished acanthus leaf scrolls in high relief. The table is supported by three monumental legs, each expertly carved in a broad scroll form embellished with foliate swags and terminating in large volutes. These supports are joined by a robust Y-form stretcher, decorated with a repeating laurel leaf pattern and a central carved boss. The base retains an aged, heavily distressed gilded finish, offering a sophisticated patina that highlights the intricate textures of the gesso work.
