This Eastlake carved walnut and burled buffet is a late 19th century American piece featuring a two-part design. The upper section consists of a mirrored back gallery topped with a prominent architectural pediment and flanked by small display shelves. Below, a rouge marble top with shaped edges sits above two drawers accented with porcelain pulls and incised decorative motifs. The lower cabinet contains two doors featuring symmetrical burled wood panels and circular carved medallions. The piece is supported by a block base and exhibits the linear, geometric ornamentation characteristic of the Eastlake and Aesthetic Movements.
