This pair of Italian Baroque style pedestals features shaped canted tops supported by dramatic hand-carved figural supports in the form of female caryatids with foliate scrolled bases. The lower tiered shelves are supported by broad scrolled rear members and sit upon two turned bun feet at the front. Finished in a cream and ochre polychrome, the pieces exhibit a heavily aged aesthetic. Visual analysis of the underside reveals modern screw construction and composite material elements, confirming these as 20th-century revival pieces rather than 17th-century originals.
