Federal Style Kidney-Shaped Mahogany Sideboard, Mid to Late 20th Century
Item Details
This mid to late 20th-century Federal Revival sideboard is crafted from mahogany and features a sophisticated kidney-shaped form. The architectural design is defined by its sweeping curved front, incorporating a central pair of drawers over a double-door compartment, flanked by two deep, curved side cupboards. The unit is accented by vertical fluting on the stiles and retains its original brass swan-neck bale handles. One central drawer is factory-fitted with a segmented liner for silver storage. The sideboard is grounded by a continuous molded plinth base. While structurally solid and displaying a rich, flame-mahogany grain on the door panels, the piece exhibits signs of residential use, including surface abrasions on the primary tabletop and typical scuffing consistent with its age.
