Irwin Furniture Pendleton Collection Hepplewhite Style Mahogany Sideboard

Item Details

This Federal Revival sideboard is part of the ‘Pendleton’ collection manufactured by the Robert W. Irwin Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Constructed from mahogany, the piece features a classic bow-front or D-shaped silhouette characterized by six drawers and a central two-door storage compartment. The drawer fronts and cupboard doors are ornamented with delicate light-wood stringing and cross-banded veneers, anchored by period-appropriate brass oval bail handles featuring embossed Neoclassical motifs. The unit is supported by six slender tapered legs, each detailed with inlaid stringing and contrasting dark wood cuffs at the base. While the structural integrity is sound and the original ‘Irwin’ brass identification plate remains intact, the sideboard displays significant finish wear, including surface clouding and scuffing consistent with mid-20th-century residential use.
