4'3 x 7'1 Hand-Knotted Turkish Anatolian Area Rug
Item Details
This hand-knotted Turkish Anatolian rug features a classic tribal composition centered on a monumental double-stepped medallion. The charcoal-grey inner medallion provides a bold contrast to the expansive, soft pink field, which is anchored by matching charcoal spandrels at the corners. A complex and wide geometric border system, rendered in shades of ivory, yellow, and slate, frames the central field with a rhythmic series of traditional Anatolian symbols. Woven with hand-spun wool on a wool foundation, the textile displays the organic texture and subtle color variations (abrash) typical of authentic mid-century village craftsmanship.
