Federal Style Inlaid Occasional Table with Nichols & Stone Windsor Chair
Item Details
This assorted grouping includes two staples of 20th-century American revival design. The occasional table is executed in the Federal style, featuring a mahogany-finished top decorated with a central inlaid oval and fine ‘barbershop-pole’ stringing along the borders and drawer front. It is supported by slender tapered legs characteristic of the Hepplewhite period. Accompanying the table is a solid wood bow-back Windsor chair by the renowned Nichols & Stone Company of Gardner, Massachusetts. The chair features a traditionally sculpted saddle seat and high-quality spindle joinery. While both pieces are structurally intact, they display signs of residential age, including moisture damage and finish abrasions on the table surface and typical wear to the chair’s wood finish.
