4'11 x 7'3 Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan "Mosul" Area Rug
Item Details
This authentic Iranian hand-knotted rug originates from the Hamadan region, specifically identified by its ‘Mousel’ (Mosul) production label. The rug features a vibrant madder red field anchored by a vertical column of three large, charcoal-black hexagonal medallions. These central motifs are decorated with intricate orange and cream geometric scrollwork. The surrounding field is densely packed with stylized tribal elements and ‘S’ motifs, framed by a multi-banded border including a prominent orange guard band with repeating geometric flora. Hand-woven with a robust wool pile on a sturdy cotton foundation, the piece retains its structural integrity, further enhanced by protective leather stripping on the reverse. Measuring approximately 7’2’ x 4’11’, this rug combines traditional Persian craftsmanship with a bold, folk-art aesthetic.
