Pair of Chinese Rosewood Corner Chairs with Mother-of-Pearl Inlay

Item Details

This pair of Chinese corner chairs is constructed from dark-stained rosewood and heavily ornamented with mother-of-pearl inlay. The design features a continuous horseshoe-shaped crest rail terminating in out-scrolled handrests, supported by two pierced vertical splats intricately carved with floral blossom motifs. The flat, fan-shaped seats are inlaid with central medallions depicting birds among flowering branches, surrounded by an oval border of nacre dots. The inlay extends across the arms, legs, and aprons, showcasing traditional Chinese flora and vine patterns. Each chair rests on four cylindrical legs joined by a reinforced X-form cross stretcher, demonstrating classic Chinese furniture joinery adapted for the export market.
