Tanzanite Jewelry

Found only in Tanzania, tanzanite is known for its crystalline blues with violet undertones. In rings, necklaces or other trinkets, EBTH has tanzanite aplenty.

Unlike most gemstones used for centuries, tanzanite is a modern gemstone of sorts. The story of its discovery tells of Maasai herders who found the blue crystal while tending livestock in the late 1960s. Tiffany & Co. immediately recognized the gem’s potential to rival the more expensive sapphire, and became tanzanite’s main distributor in 1968. Tanzanite is still only found on a few square miles of land in Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro, and its rarity and rich blue color make it a highly sought after gem. Measuring at a 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, it is best suited for earrings and pendants.
