Seller Story: Bob Beaven
Bob Beaven is an artist, retired educator, and collector.
From his handmade sculptures and tramp art to his finely crafted furniture inspired by the Adirondack tradition, Beaven has brought inspiration to both students and fellow artists alike.
He began his career as a painter and printmaker, later shifting to mixed media sculpture, and eventually to furniture design, incorporating his interests in antiques, folk art, and natural materials such as twisted sticks, twigs, and fossils into his work – reflecting his evolving artistic vision.
Beaven served as a Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Cincinnati, where he was instrumental in the development of the sculpture program following the 1970 merging of the university’s art, architecture, and design departments (DAAP).
Over a teaching career spanning more than three decades, he balanced his academic contributions, mentoring generations of students while continuing his own active studio practice.

In addition to his practice, Beaven, together with his wife, Anne, ran an antique business where they built a network of collectors throughout Ohio and beyond.
Through their shared passion for art and craftsmanship, Bob and Anne amassed a collection that is a reflection of both Bob’s artistic skill and their combined appreciation for beauty in everyday materials.
