We’re pleased to offer this wonderful collection of Botanical and McKenney & Hall prints and lithographs.
McKenney & Hall
Published in three volumes between 1838 and 1844, the McKenney & Hall: History of the Indian Tribes of North America collection consisted of 125 images of lithographic and chromolithographic plates. Thomas L. McKenney (1785-1859) served as Commissioner of Indian Affairs from 1824 to 1830. In an attempt to publish a record of vanishing peoples, he commissioned and collected portraits of Native Americans for his Gallery in the War Department. The text was provided by James Hall (1793-1868).
Botanical Prints
An assortment of antique botanical prints, engravings and lithographs. The collection includes several examples of 18th century hand-tinted pieces in which the work of Abraham Munting, Dutch doctor and botanist, can be found. Munting’s engravings were printed in the years following his death in 1695.
