Levy Family Home Ridgefield, Connecticut
Unpack three generations from the Levy family of New Yorkers, Ed & Lisa are downsizing their home in Ridgefield, Connecticut. They have decided it is time to let go of the unique pieces collected over the years by Ed’s parents and grandparents in order to help fund college for their son.
Mr. Levy’s grandfather, a stockbroker, developed an almost father and son relationship with Albert Einstein through their outreach work helping ensure children diagnosed with polio were cared for while the vaccine was being developed. His grandmother was a famed Zeigfeld Follie’s girl and the couple was heavily involved in the organization, in fact one of the lots in the auction is a signed copy of “The Ziegfeld Touch” which recognizes the work of Mr. Levy’s grandparents as contributors. The Ziegfeld Follies was a series of elaborate theatrical revue productions on Broadway in New York City from 1907 to 1931. There is some beautiful art deco jewelry in the sale that you can picture being glamorously worn by the Levy’s grandmother.
Both of Mr. Levy’s parents worked in advertising during its heyday in Manhattan. Mr. Levy’s dad was a commercial artist and some of his work is featured in the sale and his mom also worked at an ad agency. His dad’s portfolio features work done for the Golden Nugget Casino and Steve Wynn, featuring some iconic Las Vegas billboards.
The home also includes a selection of vintage goods from Mr. Levy including premium audio equipment and records from his time as a DJ and Matchbox cars he collected as a kid.
The Levy’s enjoyed the process of looking back and sharing stories while sifting through the home, and Lisa really enjoyed learning more about the family.
