Pair of Cast Iron Sad Irons
Item Details
A pair of cast iron sad irons recalls a time when housework was even more difficult than now. Despite common belief, they are called ‘sad’ due to their shape and weight; not the emotion you feel while doing chores (sad is an Old-English term meaning heavy and compact).
Condition
The larger iron has very little rust and still contains most of its black coating. Bottom is still smooth and shows minimal use. Smaller iron is mostly covered in rust, which is common due to age and use. Handle of smaller iron is also slightly bent.

Measurements above are for larger iron. Smaller sadiron measures 4" wide, 6" tall, and 4.5 deep. Also, approximately 10 lbs.
