For most of his life, Jones was known for his folk art animals and figurine carvings. A self-taught fiddle player, his philosophy was “A person has to have some work to do, so I carve some and play the fiddle.” In his later years, Jones began creating work through non-traditional pastel drawings. A West Virginia native, Jones passed at a ripe age ninety-six. The artist’s works can be found in private collections at The American Folk Art Museum.
