A Tibetan dyed turquoise, coral, and bone elephant incense burner. This elephant shaped incense burner is constructed from a metal frame and features a scale pattern across the exterior of small circular stones of turquoise – dyed white to signify the toes and eyes, and dyed blue over the figurine’s general ‘skin’ – and of coral to represent the head-wear and tail decorations of the elephant. The piece has also been finished with small tusks made of bone. There are two small rings located where the elephant’s ears would be that are intended to hold incense sticks. This item is unmarked.
