Papier-Mâché and Mother of Pearl Married Table by Chinnock's Patent Screen

Item Details

A Victorian era married decorative occasional table featuring a curvilinear tabletop with mother of pearl inlay, circa 1850. The inlay depicts an urn in archways, with the center motif surrounded by stenciled, gilded filigree decoration. The table top was created by Chinnock’s Patent Screen and was originally used for a fire screen. The top is married to a metal base pedestal in black that terminates to stylized cabriole legs. The pedestal is likely from an American-made organ or piano stool dated to the mid to late nineteenth century.
