Fred Cleveland is a Navajo artist who was raised in Ganado, AZ. He was first exposed to art by his mother, a rug weaver who also taught art at Northern Arizona University, and his father, who created sand paintings. He received his education at American Academy of Art in Chicago and has won several honors for his work including awards from the Philbrook Museum of Indian Art, and the Grand Award in Art at the Navajo Tribal Fair. He currently resides in New Mexico.
