An abstract oil painting titled Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charles Ellsworth (1906 – 1969), better known as jazz clarinetist ‘Pee Wee’ Russell. The painting is an abstraction of shape and color that reflects a vision of Mr. Ellsworth’s formative years growing up in Muskogee, Alabama. The work is signed and dated to the lower left and is presented in a wooden frame.

He amassed a vast collection of jazz memorabilia, including records, instruments, autographs, personal photographs, and more. This lot and others have been selected from this historic collection.
