An 1876 antique first edition copy of the poetry collection Songs of Three Centuries, featuring poems from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries (1600s-1800s), edited by American ‘Fireside Poet’ and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier, and published by James R. Osgood & Company of Boston. It has a signed personal inscription by Whittier to the front flyleaf: ‘Martha E. Powey, with thanks of John G. Whittier’. Bound in rust cloth covered boards with gilt board and spine titles. His signature was given a ‘visual pass’ by a third party authenticator.
