An oil painting on board titled Is Your Spacekraft Ebbing or Burning Oil? by self-taught American artist K.C. Truschel (20th/21st Century). This work features two figures, a man in a space suit an a woman in a bikini with a peg leg, set against a background of abstract delineations. The painting is signed “KCT 1/63” to the lower right and the title is inscribed to the verso. The work is presented in a simple brown wood frame.

K.C. Truschel was an unknown, self-taught painter from Bradford Woods near Pittsburgh. He painted from 1962-1967 and his work was never shown during his lifetime. His paintings often displayed themes of man’s shortcomings. His work was exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2002.
