A 19th century Shaker oil portrait painting depicting a somber woman in her bonnet posed with her hand on a book, presumably a bible. As with many Shaker portraits, this original painting is unsigned. Presented in a carved gold gilt frame.

- heavy billow to canvas; dust and accretions present to painting and frame; wear to surface of painting; craquelure present throughout painting; inpainting along edges of canvas; stretcher frame visible through canvas; minor losses of gesso to inner and outer edges of frame; toning to varnish; inpainting to upper right portion of painting; impact craquelure present to upper right of painting; frame abrasion along edges of painting; dirt and residue present to painting; painting loose in frame.
