An antique two volume set of Our Islands And Their People As Seen With Camera And Pencil introduced by Major-General Joseph Wheeler with special descriptive matter and narratives by Jose de Olivares. These volumes ‘embrace perfect photographic and descriptive representations of the people and the islands lately acquired from Spain, including Hawaii and the Philippines; also their material resources and productions, homes of the people, their customs and general appearance, with many hundreds of views of landscapes, rivers, valleys, hills, and mountains, so complete as to practically transfer the island and their people to the pictured page’’. Complete in two quarto volumes, this set published by N.D. Thompson Co., in St. Louis, originally sold for $15.00. Throughout the two volumes are more than 1200 special photographs, colortypes, and newly colored maps, dated before 1899. The frontispiece in each volume is tissue protected.
