An oil painting on canvas by listed French artist Leopold Pascal (1900 – 1957), created in the early-to-mid 20th century. Portrayed with thick gestural brushstrokes and neutral hues, this work features a loose rendering of a modest church interior. The painting is signed to the lower right and presented in an elaborate gilt and gesso frame with high-relief molding.

Leopold Pascal was particularly known for his paintings of seascapes and cityscapes, often rendered in neutral color palettes. A participant of the Salon des Independents, the artist exhibited his work in Paris beginning in 1922. In 1940, he moved to London, and was appointed by Charles de Gaulle as the official painter of the Navy in 1945.

- two repair patches present to upper right and lower left of canvas verso; some rippling throughout canvas; craquelure scattered throughout; wear in frame includes small chips, scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout.
