A 1993 abstract kinetic wood sculpture by contemporary American artist Mark A. Wallis (Arizona/Indiana; 20th/21st century). This sculpture features carved geometric wood shapes, each stained with a different finish, interlocking to create a towering base with a curved form balanced on a fulcrum at the top. This work is signed and dated to the base.

Mark A. Wallis earned a BFA in sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, in 1978. He went on to Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, where he was granted an MFA in 1983. Wallis established MAW Studio in Spencer, Indiana, where he spent twenty years creating original sculptures, furniture and outdoor environmental works. The studio is now located in Tucson, Arizona, where Wallis continues to explore new aesthetic ideas. His award winning work has been exhibited and collected across the United States and abroad.
