A complete two volume hardcover edition of A New Chronological Abridgment of the History of France by Charles-Jean-François Hénault (1685-1770), translated into English by a Mr. Nugent, and published 1762 by J. Nourse of London. It covers the history of France from the reign of Clovis I (r. circa 509-511), the first ruler of a untied France, to the reign of Louis XIV ‘the Sun King’ (r. 1643-1715). Each volume is printed on laid paper and bound in a full leather hardcover, with a paneled spine with stamped and gilt designs and applied labels.
