A large, hand painted ceramic sculpture of a macaw by David Fryer Studio. David Fryer is an English sculptor and painter who has produced limited edition and custom, one of a kind pieces since the 1980s. Previously working for Royal Worcester, Fryer opened his own studio where he specializes in richly detailed naturalistic subjects, mostly birds. The macaw features finely detailed feathers, talons, and beak as the bird steadies on one branch and clasps a piece of wood, beak agape exposing a black tongue. The branch the bird is perched features delicately sculpted and painted orchid flowers and leaves. The piece is unsigned but features a David Fryer Studio stamp to the underside.

Condition

- to Poor, missing one orchid leaf at base; missing one anther to orchid flower; two orchid flowers are detached and are included for repair; however, stems supporting the orchid flowers are damaged and are missing pieces for attachment and one orchid flower is missing one sepal.
