Irving C. Burgues "Carolina Wren with Dogwood"

A hand painted, limited edition Carolina Wren with Dogwood porcelain sculpture by Dr. Irving C. Burgues (American, 20th century). Dr. Burgues began producing porcelain sculptures and figurines in the 1970s from a New Jersey studio, with museums and private collectors enjoying his art. This piece is signed ‘Burgues U.S.A.’ to the reverse and features an inscribed title, numbered 90 of 315, and model number 415. Also bears a black back stamp with a bird logo and ‘Limited Edition USA, Burgues’ text. A similar figure of the same series resides in the Brooklyn Museum.

Condition

- two petals of daisy flower have been repaired below the blue wren, with one petal missing.
