Gordon House, born in South Wales, studied at Luton School of Art and St. Albans School of Art. House became an assistant to the sculptor Theodore Kern while working at an advertising studio. He spent a short time working as a graphic designer for the Kynoch Press in London before becoming self-employed. House notably created the typography for the back covers of the 1967 Beatles LP ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, ‘The White Album’, and Paul McCartney’s solo albums. Gordon House’s pieces can be found in various collections including the Tate Gallery, Museum of Modern Art, Harvard Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Australia.
