Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.

- paint loss along the upper edge of canvas board; varnish drip to the top rail of frame; board is slightly bowed from frame; open miter to the lower left of frame; surface wear to frame.
