The fan is composed of a paper mount decorated with French courting scenes, mother-of-pearl blades embellished with flowers and leaves and featuring scrollwork medallions in blue and gold and mother-of-pearl guards. The fan is mounted into a blue mat, displayed under glass in a narrow gilded wooden frame.
