An Ames Sword Co. ‘Grand Army of the Republic’ Civil War veteran’s sword. This commemorative sword was produced by Ames Sword Company in the style of the 1860 Staff and Field Officer’s Sword. The sword features an ornately decorated basket hilt marked ‘A’ with wooden grip. The blade is marked ‘Ames Sword Co/ Chicopee / Mass’ at its base; ‘McPherson’ to one side; and ‘Post 73 G.A.R.’ to its reverse. The sword includes a metal scabbard with leather cord.
