An early 20th-century graphite drawing on paper by well-listed American artist Louis Michel Eilshemius (1864 – 1941), dated 1877. This work features a country cottage rendered with soft linework. The work is signed and dated to the lower right. It is presented matted and housed in a giltwood frame under glass.
Born in New Jersey, Louis Eilshemius studied at Cornell University, then began his art studies at the Art Students League. He continued his art studies abroad at the Académie Julian under William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Championed by Henri Matisse and Marcel Duchamp, he exhibited his work at the famous Armory Show of 1913. In addition, his work has been collected and exhibited by multiple prestigious institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsoninan American Art Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among many others.

- discoloration, toning, and some accretions to paper and mat; mat is torn; chipping, dents, and scratches to frame.
