An oil painting on canvas mounted to hardboard by well-listed American painter Edith Briscoe Stevens (Connecticut/Massachusetts; 1898 – 1931). The painting depicts a harbor scene painted in short, expressive strokes of paint. The painting is signed to the lower left and is presented in a wooden frame with silver tone finish and a hanging wire.

Stevens’ work is represented in the collections of the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, the William Benton Museum of Art at the University of Connecticut in Storrs and the Saint Joseph College of Art in West Hartford.

Condition

- accretion across painting. A few small punctures visible throughout painting surface. Canvas has been mounted to hardboard. Wear to frame.
