The frame is comprised of two artistic and literary journals from 1883 titled La Vie Moderne with parcel-gilt and red leather spines, both of which have been stacked and mounted to a later, brass table base.

- overall with various scratches, dents, marks, and abrasions consistent with age and use; structurally stable; journals have been bolted to base; top journal with some scratches, nicks/losses, and discolored spots to papered board; leather spines with some wear/surface losses; some toning to pages; some light oxidation and tarnishing to brass base.
