A finely hand-knotted Persian Tabriz area rug. The wool rug features an intricate floral and foliate design in a palette of navy, caramel, brick, taupe and blue/grey. A central medallion with eight-pointed star begins the design, with vase forms, palmettes and floral sprays surrounding. Detailed spandrels echo the design. Floral guard borders and a primary border containing boteh and palmette motifs frame the field.
