Handwoven and Embroidered Suzani Kilim Carpet Runner
Item Details
A handwoven and embroidered Afghan Suzani wool carpet runner. The runner has been woven using gray and brown wool and then embroidered with a variety of vivid colors. A pattern of latticed diamonds has been created using a fretwork motif worked in different colors so as to form concentric squares as well as horizontal stripes. Guard borders with S-shaped motifs frame the field. Kilim skirts at each end feature bands of embroidery and tassels to the corners.
