Japanese Gofun Doll in Lacquer Display Case, 20th Century

Item Details

A mid-century Japanese gofun doll dressed in a traditional metallic silk kimono with a black wig and glass eyes. The male doll is seated within a black lacquered glass case, his hand painted face having the most delicate features and detailing. Gofun is a pigment made from crushed oyster shells and is the traditional finish used on the doll’s face and hands. A copy of the original receipt from Japan is included.

- the doll is in very good condition having been stored in a glass case. The case is in good condition with a few minor chips
