Chinese Erotic Pillow Books
Item Details
A set of four Chinese erotic pillow books titled Erotic Pictures (春宮圖 Chungong tu). These hard-sided books are hinged to the edge and fold open to reveal full-color illustrations of couples in erotic embraces. The books are of late twentieth-century production and feature erotic colorful offset lithographic prints adhered to an accordion style book. Pillow books were traditionally given by a mother to her daughter on her wedding day, to teach a young bride about love making. The books have leatherette covers with title pastedowns to their fronts, and are unmarked with publisher or artist names.
