Pair of Antique 900 Silver Urns and Tane Sterling Silver Kovsh Bowl

Item Details

A pair of antique urns in 900 sterling plus a circa 1960s Tane Mexico sterling silver kovsh bowl. The tall urns feature a gold wash to the exterior and have removable lids festooned with cast metal roses, leaves and birds. The bodies have narrow necks, flaring to a rounded body and resting on four paw feet. The exterior of the urns has been ornamented with applied leaves, rosettes and engraved floral designs. The Tane drinking bowl is a reproduction of a 17th century Russian drinking vessel called kovsh, originally made of wood and often boat shaped. It reflects a Russian influence in Mexico at the time. The bowl has a gold-washed interior and gilt to alternating panels on the outside and has a single crescent-shaped handle. It is hallmarked as sterling silver with an approximate weight of 10.900 ozt. The urns are marked 900 to the undersides, with an approximate combined weight of 75.755 ozt.
