A 1903 Louisiana Purchase, McKinley obverse $1 gold commemorative coin. Designer: Charles E. Barber. Mintage: 17,500. Metal content: 90% gold, 10% copper. Diameter: 14.3 mm. Weight: approximately 1.7 grams. Coin appears to have been cleaned and removed from a jewelry mount. The inscriptions on the reverse appear to have been tooled or altered, perhaps to repair damage from the jewelry mount. The coin is in poor condition.
