A graphite drawing on paper titled Yale by listed American artist Robert Harmer Smith (American, born 1906). This drawing features the facade of Yale University’s Sterling Memorial Library rendered with fine shading. It is signed and titled to the lower left.

A noted designer, painter, etcher and architect, Robert Harmer Smith attended Yale’s School of Fine Arts and the Pratt Institute’s School of Fine and Applied Arts. He was a member of the Jersey City Museum Association and the Hudson Artists Association. He was the recipient of numerous prizes medals and juried awards and his work is held in numerous public and private collections including the art collection of the United States Navy. Additionally, Harmer Smith is known for his widely-circulated posters for the World’s Fair of 1939.
