A 1965 oil painting on board by listed artist George Campbell (Ireland; 1917 – 1979). This expressionistic painting features lobster traps piled near a small wooden boat, rendered in bold, textural line work surrounded by pale hues that suggest the surrounding harbor. This work is signed and dated to the lower right. It is presented in a white, painted wood frame with a hanging wire to the verso.

Campbell is considered as one of Ireland’s foremost painters of landscapes and still life compositions. He visited Spain for the first time in 1951, and the art and ambience of the country had such a profound impact on him he returned nearly every following year to study and paint.
