A 1964 lithograph on Guarro paper by famed Spanish artist Joan Miró (Spanish; 1893 – 1983). The print was printed as Plate V in the portfolio Obra Inedita Recent. It was published by Sala Gaspar and printed at Litografía Foto-Repro (Barcelona). The print depicts a series of abstracted shapes printed in black, blue, orange, and yellow — an unusual palette within Miró’s body of work. The print is signed ‘M.’ in graphite to the lower right and numbered ‘97/100’ in graphite to the lower left. A tag from Ferdinand Roten Galleries (Baltimore) is attached to the piece’s verso.

Miró was born in Barcelona, Spain during 1893 and received his formal education at the Barcelona Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Gali. He became friends with Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Ernest Hemingway, Max Ernst and Paul Klee. Miró was accepted as a Surrealist in Paris with the recognition of some of the greatest artists of our times.
Condition
- paper is very slightly yellowed with age. Central crease marks the image vertically.
