Recording King Hollow Body Archtop Acoustic Guitar, 1941
Item Details
A 1941 hollow body archtop Recording King acoustic guitar in a tobacco flame finish. It features a spruce top with maple back and sides; a mahogany neck; and a rosewood fretboard and adjustable bridge. Additional features include a deep V neck; trapeze tailpiece; three per side tuning machines; and two f-holes on the top of the guitar. A house brand of Montgomery Ward, the Recording King guitars were manufactured beginning in the early 1930s. This piece retains it’s original Montgomery Ward tag dated 1941. Extra strings and a black chipboard case accompany the guitar.

Condition
- the guitar has scratches, scuffs, and discolorations; a small amount of separation between binding and top of guitar in one spot; an additional strap button hole was drilled at bottom of guitar; everything on the instrument appears to be original, with the exception of replaced strap buttons; the guitar was untested; wear to the case with oxidation and rust to the latches.
