An 1877 handwritten poem memorializing Civil War surgeon Jacob Ebersole by his son Joseph Glenn Ebersole of Cincinnati. The poem is written in an antique gilt-embossed leather bound autograph book. Jacob Ebersole was the surgeon to the 19th Infantry of Indiana during the American Civil War which was mustered out to the Richmond-Petersburg Campaign in October 1864.
